We identify the competent authority for your site, check the current classification of its assessment unit, and prepare and follow up the application until the authority decides.

Competent authority
The Water Resources Department outside the Chennai Metropolitan Area, Chennai's own Act inside it, or CGWA where its route applies.
NOC to draw and transport groundwater
For a new industry, under G.O. (Ms.) No. 142 of 2014.
Eligibility check
Block classification, distance from rivers, the coast and canals, and the intended use.
Renewals
Every year for a water-based industry, and every three years for others.
Where applications go wrong, and what we check
- Defaulting to the CGWA portal. Not every Tamil Nadu application belongs on CGWA NOCAP.
- Stopping at the 2014 order. Check for a later State order before filing.
- Using an old block assessment. Classifications are revised, so use the current one on the day you file.
- Figures that disagree. The withdrawal quoted on the clearance, the consent and the groundwater application must match.
